Meet our Staff Team!

  • Emily (she/her)

    Emily has worked in the recreation sector in a variety of roles in outdoor recreation, intramurals and municipal settings. She has a BA in Sport Recreation and Tourism and believes everyone should have access to quality recreation programs.

  • Pete (he/him)

    Pete discovered his love for working with youth and young people at a summer camp in Ontario. Since then he has worked or volunteered in this area for many years. He loves participating in team sports or challenging himself on the Grouse Grind. In his free time he enjoys board games, card games, and other nerdy hobbies. He is excited to be joining PoCo and getting to know the Youth here.

  • Alvi

    Alvi (he/him)

    Alvi is currently completing his bachelors of business and finance. He always brings a fun attitude to the youth center and is always up for a challenge! In his free time, Alvi is usually watching a sporting event, hanging out with his family or playing with his chiweenie named Olive! Recently, his new found passion is hiking and finished the 47km Juan de Fuca trail in Victoria! Come say hi!

  • Britton (she/her)

    Britton is a recreation leader with an education in Child and Youth Care Counselling. She is passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment for youth to be themselves and build connections. Britton enjoys engaging with youth while playing sports, creating art or simply spending time talking. In her youth, Britton grew up playing soccer and volleyball and currently plays on a softball team. When she’s not at the Youth Centre or school, she enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends!

  • Cassidy (she/her)

    Cassidy has been working for the City of Port Coquitlam since 2015 and has recently completed her Bachelors of Arts in English and History at Simon Fraser University. Cassidy is currently studying to get her teaching certificate at SFU. When at the Youth Centre Cassidy loves to play cards or Super Smash Bros! In her free time she likes to play ringette, read books, and hike!

  • Chris (he/him)

    Chris graduated from SFU with a degree in Health Sciences and has had the opportunity to work with children and youth in various capacities. In his spare time, Chris enjoys working out, playing soccer, watching hockey, playing video games, and hanging out with his cat. Believe it or not, he has taught his cat how to shake a paw! Chris is looking forward to connecting with youth in PoCo at the Youth Centres and is always up for a game of pool or Super Smash Bros.

  • Ebo (he/him)

    Ebo, who is proudly a first-generation immigrant to Canada. He has a formal education in Sports Coaching, PA Teaching and Sports Management. He had a career as a professional basketball player in Turkey. In the last 4 years, he coached basketball in the lower mainland for almost every age group, including SFU Men’s Basketball Team and Varsity AAU Club Teams. Recently, he figured there is another way to reach an even larger crowd through recreation and youth services. You are welcome to challenge him in any game. Also, you can ask him how tall he is, he doesn’t mind!

  • Edric (he/him)

    Edric has a background in criminology and child and youth care. Edric has experience in coaching many different sports such as hockey, football and baseball. He loves working out and playing sports in his spare time, and loves competing and challenging youth during open gym and in the Youth Centre.

  • Hailey (she/her)

    Hailey is currently completing her Bachelors of Psychology with a minor in counselling. She is very passionate about creating safe spaces for youth to be themselves and have fun! In her spare time, Hailey enjoys hanging out with friends and family, going out to eat and cuddling with her Frenchie. At the youth centres, Hailey enjoys playing board games and Super Smash Bros!!

  • Hannah (she/her)

    Hannah graduated with her Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Douglas College and has worked with people of all ages and abilities. With a background working in adapted sport and teaching preschool, Hannah likes any opportunity to join drop-in gym or get a creative project going. In her free time, Hannah likes to walk her dog, Fish, spend time with friends and family and play almost any game or sport.

  • Kevin (he/him)

    Kevin has worked in Youth Services for many years and is a graduate of the Youth Justice program at Douglas College. He also works for Plea Community Services as a Youth Worker. In his free time Kevin enjoys watching sports, playing board games and being the Captain of his Dodgeball team. In the Youth Centre he is usually up for a game of Catan or any other board game that gets too competitive.

  • Liam (he/him)

    Liam is currently completing a Sports Science diploma at Douglas College. He is always looking to have a good time, and enjoys creating memorable experiences. Liam finds it very meaningful to work with youth and enjoys helping them along their journey. In his spare time Liam loves to play hockey and travel.

  • Luka (he/him)

    Luka is a Recreational Leadership student who is motivated by creating fun, engaging recreational opportunities that inspire community bonding for youth in PoCo. Luka spent his youth playing minor hockey and is a big advocate for community sports of all kinds. Luka spends his free time watching anime and shooting hoops. Come say hi!!

  • Madison (she/her)

    Madison has a degree in History and Indigenous Studies From Simon Fraser University. Madison loves school so much, once she graduated she began working in admissions for SFU. In her spare time she enjoys skiing with her sister and excessively reading, as well as hiking with her dog Winnifred. What Madison loves about working with youth is being able to create connections and learn together.

  • Mary (she/her)

    Mary is currently completing her Bachelors of Arts with a Major in English Literature at UBC and plans to go back to school to become a teacher! She loves walking her dog Winnie, she also loves to go skiing with her sister Madison and going for runs on different local trails! While at the Youth Centre Mary enjoys getting schooled by the youth and her coworkers in pool, ping pong, smash bros, basketball, and basically every game there is (even though she tries her best).

  • Matthew (he/him)

    Matthew has been a Rec Leader at the Port Coquitlam Youth Center since September 2019. At the Youth Center he likes to play pool, play cards, join in on Mario Kart and chat with the youth. In his free time he likes to skateboard, play hockey and enjoys hiking the High Knoll.

  • Sabina (she/her)

    Sabina graduated from SFU with a degree in Resource and Environmental Management and certificate in Sustainable Community Development. She has been working for the city of Port Coquitlam since 2013. Growing up, Sabina played soccer, basketball and volleyball and enjoys engaging with Youth in Drop-in gym and playing games with them. In her free time, Sabina likes hiking, playing with her dog, practicing yoga and playing games (especially Catan) with friends and family. Sabina prides herself in being someone youth can look up to and confide in.

  • Teks (she/her)

    Teks is currently in the Child and Youth Care Counselling program at Douglas College and has worked with children and youth for many years. In her spare time she likes to binge tv shows, spend time with friends and family and travel. At the youth centre you can find her playing cards and board games or at a table talking with youth.

  • Zeeshan (he/him)

    Zeeshan is currently a 4th year student in psychology and aims to pursue a PhD in Counselling Psychology. He has worked and volunteered with youth since 2017 and developed a strong passion in being the 'big brother' that kids of all ages can look up to and depend on. Zeeshan is also a photographer and cinematographer on the side. He enjoys activities such as snowboarding, hiking, playing sports, and is a huge car enthusiast so he spends time modifying his cars, driving, and attending car shows.
